Sex Myths Exposed!
Sex is always in the picture when you’re dating, but it does not equal the same thing for each person. It's important to pay attention to myths about sex and intimacy so you don't fall for them. Here are some common ones:
- Men are ready to do it sooner. Not always, because every relationship is different. However, if it's true in your relationship, it does not mean a woman should do it if she isn't ready. If you do have sex before you are ready, it's alright to step back and go slower
- Relationship articles are always right -- men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Don't generalize -- men don't always want to be on top and sometimes women like to be the aggressors
- Sex is always good for you. Did you see “9 1/2 Weeks”? Sure, the sex was great, but the relationship wasn't. If one of you is using sex as a way to avoid other forms of intimacy, it may be sign of a larger issue
- Both partners should initiate sex. Wrong! Don't assume that lack of initiation means lack of interest. If you would like your partner to be more active in the role of initiator, speak up! If you have a shy mate, try role-playing to lighten things up
